ABOUT
I’m Devin Walker, founder of High Pointe Drafting, and I’ve been drawn to building things for as long as I can remember. I grew up in a small town in Oregon where making, fixing, and figuring things out wasn’t a hobby it was everyday life. I learned by watching my grandfather and father in garages, workshops, and on job sites, building homes, picking things up by watching and doing. Those early experiences taught me that good work comes from patience, creativity, and doing things right the first time.
A Career Built on Craftsmanship, Creativity, and a Few Unexpected Turns
When I moved to Utah in my early twenties, my path didn’t start in drafting; it started in TV news. I worked as a news video editor at a local station, cutting stories, meeting tight deadlines, and learning how to communicate visually and think creatively under pressure. It was fast‑paced, technical work that taught me how to solve problems quickly and tell a story with precision.
Those skills ended up being the perfect foundation for what came next.
Not long after, I stepped fully into the drafting world. Over the next two decades, I served as Lead Draftsman for an award‑winning architectural firm in Salt Lake City. During those years, I learned how much a well‑designed plan can influence a project’s success. A thoughtful set of drawings can make a builder’s day easier, help a homeowner feel confident, and prevent problems long before anyone steps onto the job site.
I founded High Pointe Drafting to bring that same level of care directly to the people I work with. My approach is simple:
- Make it creative.
- Make it buildable.
- Make it right.
Every project ,whether a small remodel or a large custom home gets the same attention to detail and the same respect for the craft.
Family, Life, and the Things That Keep Me Grounded.
When I’m not drafting, I’m usually with my wife Jen and our blended family. Kids, grandkids, and the kind of busy, loud life that fills a home with stories and memories. Family is a big part of who I am and why I do what I do. Designing spaces where people live, grow, and gather means more when you understand how important those spaces really are.
When I need to reset, you’ll find me in the mountains, on my bike, or in the garage building animated Halloween props, a hobby that scratches the same itch I’ve had since childhood: creating things that come to life. It’s hands‑on, technical, a little chaotic, and always fun.
What I Bring to Every Project
I design architectural plans with a builder’s mindset, a craftsman’s eye, a family man’s appreciation for the spaces we live in, and a creative approach to solving problems. Clients come to me for plans that are practical, precise, and ready for the field. Drawings that make sense not just on a screen, but on a job site.
Whether you’re a homeowner dreaming up your next project, a builder who needs dependable, detailed plans, or an architect in need of fast, efficient drafting support, I’m here to help turn ideas into something real.
Let’s create something together.
